Ice cream shops in Košice
In Košice the geography does the sorting. The gelaterias are on Hlavná, the long main street, and around Dominikánske Square: natural gelato and fruit sorbets made on the premises, a line-up that changes often, and the odd combination such as ricotta with figs. Several double as cafés with a pastry counter.
Traditional cooked cream ice cream has moved out of the centre instead — to Trieda SNP in the Západ district and to Šaca, where the kiosks have been running for decades and keep winning readers’ polls for the best ice cream in the city and its surroundings. The flavours there are the classic creamy and fruit ones, and the prices are lower than downtown. The centre is a single walk; the rest needs a tram, a bus or a car.
