zmrzka is a Slovak and Czech site about ice cream: recipes that work in the equipment you have at home, and a list of ice cream shops worth visiting.

Recipes for your equipment

The same recipe is made differently in a compressor ice cream maker, a freezer-bowl ice cream maker, a Ninja CREAMi or with no machine at all — it takes a different amount of time and sometimes needs different proportions. So for every recipe you choose your equipment and see the exact method and timings.

Composition calculated from the ingredients

Fat, milk solids, sugars, anti-freezing power (PAC), nutrition and allergens are all calculated from the ingredient weights and their average composition (USDA FoodData Central, NUTRIDATABAZE.cz). It is an estimate — fruit and products vary.

Ice cream shops picked by hand

We list ice cream shops that make their own ice cream from fresh ingredients and have a good reputation, awards or recommendations from food media. Each one has a checked address and sources. We don’t list opening hours — they change.
