Ice cream shops in Ostrava

What holds the Ostrava list together is a handful of local makers with several outlets each: the ice cream is made in one place and carried around the city. Italian-style gelato with fruit sorbets dominates, made from fresh milk from the nearby Beskydy mountains and Italian ingredients.

There are two clusters. Moravská Ostrava, the centre, has a gelato café that stays open through the winter, and Poruba to the west has several more. Many of these places are cafés with their own cakes and desserts, so ice cream here is not only a summer stop on the street. A gelateria from Olomouc has opened a branch with vegan flavours as well.

Beyond the two clusters, there is ice cream in Zábřeh by the shopping park and in Vítkovice at a patisserie that makes its own. A stall on Masarykovo náměstí and a soft-serve place in Svinov, which prepares its base from fresh milk, both open for the season.
