Ice cream shops in Liberec
Liberec has a short list, but not a dull one. Italian gelato stands next to a family shop working from traditional Macedonian and Croatian recipes, which rotates dozens of flavours over the year, vegan ones among them.
Everything is close to the centre: Sokolovské náměstí, náměstí Dr. Edvarda Beneše and Moskevská street in the Perštýn quarter are minutes apart on foot. One gelateria also has a branch in Hanychov, on the way up towards Ještěd, the mountain above the town.
One shop is worth singling out: it churns on an old Cattabriga machine using cream from a farm nearby and fresh egg yolks, and its salted caramel and sorbets carry the Czech Regional Food mark. Several places make cakes and pastries alongside the ice cream and sell it in tubs to take away, which helps if you are heading out of town.
