Ice cream shops in Hradec Králové

Hradec Králové differs from the other Czech cities on this list: home-made soft serve holds a strong position here. It is not soft serve from a ready powder — the shops prepare their own base and invent their own flavours for it, such as cream with watermelon and coconut.

In the centre, in the narrow V Kopečku lane, there is an artisan shop doing gelato, soft serve and fruit sorbets. Elsewhere in town a seasonal stall keeps only a few flavours a day: milk ones with vanilla from Madagascar pods, and sorbets with a high share of real fruit, no colourings or flavourings.

It is worth going beyond the centre. Stará Třebeš has a stall beside a cycle path, a natural stop on a ride, and Slezské Předměstí has a shop with home-made soft serve and scooped ice cream that draws a queue in summer. Some of these places open for the season only.
